Car Maintenance Tips to Save You Money

When you own a car, you know you will spend a lot of money for it all the time. It is a good thing there are a lot of ways to save money. Here are a few of them:

Replace Brake Pads

If you hear a screeching sound, it is most likely your brake pads. You would need to have it changed right away as it would not cost you a lot of money anyway. Its effect will prove drastic when you accidentally bump a person crossing the street because you were not able to time your brakes enough.

Change the Oil

Believe it or not, it is more important to change your oil as it is to refill your gas. Having no oil can affect your engine and you will end up spending a lot to have that repaired.

Check Spare Tire

The condition of the spare tire is just as important as the four tires you are running on. Thus, better check the tire pressure of all five tires you have with you regularly. The last thing you would need to happen is for you to have a flat tire then for your spare to be flat too. As a result, you will pay lots of money for a tow truck to come pick you up.

Check Spark Plugs

It is common to have your spark plugs changed during a checkup because of how it preserves your engine’s health. We are all familiar with how expensive it would be to buy an entirely new engine for your car. Thus, it would be better to preserve its lifespan by changing the spark plugs all the time. Add that to the fact that it does not cost you that much to begin with.

Get Tires Rotated

We all know how expensive a new set of tires is. Hence, it would be a lot better to just rotate the tires as not all of them would wear down right away. There are times when the front tires wear down faster than the ones at the back.

Change Air Filter

An air filter can be overlooked at times but that can be your biggest mistake. Yes, a malfunctioning air filter would affect your air con. That may result in having a malfunctioning air con for a few days and it can be a massive haul to get a new one.

Keep Battery Clean

We all know how big of a hassle it is to run out of battery in the middle of nowhere. Not only will you need to buy a new battery, you will also need to pay for a tow truck to get you home. Hence, you would be improving the chances of that not happening if you keep the batteries clean all the time.

Check Coolant

A corrosion within you car is the last thing you would want to happen as it can result to serious circumstances. Thus, better check the coolant every now and then to avoid that from happening.
